5. Death Note — Written by Tsugumi Ohba

Death Note begins with a simple but terrifying idea: what if you had the power to kill anyone simply by writing their name in a notebook?

A brilliant high-school student Light Yagami finds an unordinary notebook, Death Note, which belongs to Shinigami who is a death god, Ryuk. In order to make the world perfect, he thought writing out the names of the criminals would be a great justice.

What makes Death Note so gripping is the battle of intelligence between Light and the mysterious detective known as L. The rivalry carries a sense of serious consequences and a tension that leads readers to constantly asking out the meaning of justice –  whether good intentions can justify terrible actions.

Even though the story contains supernatural elements, its real focus is human nature. Death Note asks how much power a person can handle before power begins to change them. It remains one of the most discussed Manga about justice, power and that makes it in the list of highest-rated Manga.

4. Demon Slayer — Written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge

Demon Slayer is an emotional action series about family, courage, and the determination to keep moving forward after tragedy.

Tanjiro Kamado is a kid who sells charcoal to help his mother and five younger siblings. One day he returned home and found his family slaughtered by the demons. His sister Nezuko survives, but she is transformed into a demon. A swordsman named Giyu Tomioka, a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, arrives ready to kill her on the spot. But Tanjiro begs to spare her. Rather than abandoning her, Tanjiro searches for a way to restore her humanity while training to become a demon slayer.

What makes this Manga interestingly amazing is the character’s dynamic and intense action. Tanjiro’s greatest strength is not just his swordsmanship. In thrilling battles showing compassion to the dangerous enemies requires a lot of strength. He often recognizes the pain and loneliness hidden behind their monstrous appearances.

The Manga is also known for its memorable characters, intense action, and strong sense of family. Tanjiro’s journey shows that kindness is not weakness. In a cruel world, compassion becomes one of his greatest sources of strength.

Ufotable’s anime adaptation turned it into a global phenomenon, and Mugen Train became one of the highest-grossing films ever released in Japan.

3. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End offers a quieter and more thoughtful kind of fantasy adventure.

Frieren is an elf who ages slower than humans, she belongs to a group of heroes who defeated Demon King. The party consists of Himmel the hero, Heiter the priest, Eisen the dwarf warrior, and Frieren. She does not fully understand the meaning of relationship and memories because for an elf, a decade is a blink.

Then fifty years passed after the team scattered. She reunites with the party for a meteor shower they once promised to watch together, and the old hero Himmel is frail and gray. He dies not long after. At the funeral, Frieren finds herself crying and realizes something that stings: she spent ten years beside him and never really tried to know him. She had assumed there would always be more time.

This dynamic encourages readers to appreciate ordinary conversations, small acts of kindness, and time spent with loved ones. This takes the series into the highest-rated Manga list.

2. Chainsaw Man – Written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto

Chainsaw Man is chaotic but deeply related to desire for a normal life. The story follows Denji, who is a broke and desperate teenager drowning in debt left behind by his late father. His companion is Pochita, both hunting devils to survive in a world. His only goal is to have a girlfriend, a toast with jam and an ordinary life.

But the Yakuza owes money to eventually sell his body parts and kill him after he fails a job so Pochita becomes Denji’s heart and he comes back to life. The merger called Chainsaw Man, a human with chainsaws that burst from his head and arms.

The most interesting part of this Manga is how it lurches from brutal action to dark comedy to moments of unexpected tenderness. That tone encourages readers to keep asking what a person will tolerate in exchange for a bit of warmth.

The series moved to Shonen Jump+ for Part 2, which is still ongoing. MAPPA’s anime adaptation aired in late 2022, and the film Reze Arc followed.

1. Berserk

At number one is Berserk, one of the most influential and powerful dark-fantasy Manga ever created.

The story follows Guts, whose journey is filled with brutal battles and supernatural forces where survival is an everyday motive. But the series also focuses on friendship, ambition, trauma, love, and the difficult process of continuing to live after experiencing terrible loss.

A warrior is not a perfect hero, he is not fearless but angry, isolated and consumed with revenge. Yet that is what makes him feel so human. His strength comes from battling daily even when fear and pain are overwhelming.

Berserk is famous for its detailed artwork and dark atmosphere, but its greatest power lies in its characters. The relationships between Guts, Griffith, and Casca create an emotional story of loyalty, dreams, and betrayal. Every victory feels hard-earned, and every moment of hope feels precious.

The series can be extremely violent and disturbing, so it is best suited to mature readers. Still, beneath its darkness is a powerful message: even when life is cruel and the future seems hopeless, a person can continue searching for their own path.
