Colin Farrell has got us very excited to return to Gotham as The Penguin in The Batman Part II. Far from it being about getting action scenes right, or even stealing the show with the character’s arc. Farrel explained in a chat with Collider that what pulls him back are the people he gets to work with, and the “Matt Reeves immersive world that’s just very, very gritty.” There’s definitely a love for the vibe and the behind the scenes team it feels like. Farrell kept it real, he explained the camaraderie and new ways of working on set keep bringing him back, as he promotes the upcoming movie The Ballad of a Small Player releasing on 29 October 2025.

Colin Farrell delivered so many thoughts on his role in HBO’s massive hit The Penguin. So the experience evidently stuck with him for good. The series its eight-episodes run in late 2024. It garnered rave reviews, high ratings, and mentions for major awards like the Emmys and Golden Globes. Farrell really got to dive deep into the character, all of the intricate layers and psychological twists and turns that you can only explore in a long form series. Apparently the part allowed him to stretch his acting chops quite a bit, and fans seemed to get as much pleasure as he did. With all the buzz around the show, it is no surprise that The Penguin turned out to be one of HBO’s breakout hits.

The show ended up a huge success, attracting 5.3 million viewers across all platforms during its first weekend, marking the largest four-day debut for a tier one Max original since The Last of Us dusted off in January 2023. The show received rave reviews from critics with a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many reviews referring to Colin Farrell’s performance as “transformative” and “a true tour de force.”

The Question is what brings Farrell back for The Batman Part II

It’s not so much ‘What do I do with this?, but I just want to be in that world and be with Robert and be with Jeffrey again and be brought by Matt Reeves,’ said Farrell. After a deeper exploration of the HBO series character, Farrell returning to the movie sequel isn’t about further expanding the Penguin’s story, instead rejoining the talented ensemble.

The Batman Part II

Colin Farrell shared his happiness by saying “I’m really excited to be back in that world, to just be around it,” he said as he contemplated joining such an unparalleled group of creatives once more.

Reliving The Childhood Dream

Farrell’s ties to the world of Batman are deeply embedded since he was a kid growing up in Dublin. He shared, he was raised watching Burgess Meredith’s legendary turn as the Penguin in the ‘60s Batman TV series when he was 5, and then Danny DeVito’s iconic performance in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns at around 11 or 12.

Reliving The Childhood Dream

For the actor, the joy is a little simpler, just getting to play in a world “where a character called Bruce Wayne and Batman exist, is such a joy.” He admired how Reeves had “re-imagined a world that is unique enough and yet still honors the struggles of that city and the psychological struggles of the character of Bruce Wayne.”

Farrell Is Confirmed For The Batman Part II

Although Farrell has now confirmed that his part in The Batman Part II will be very small, a smaller appearance than in the first film. He has read the full script and described it as “extraordinary”. He hinted that THE BATMAN 2 is a much deeper plot, it means that Reeves is expected to be seen in scarier scenes and it will further keep the franchise as the stakes are bigger.

Farrell Is Confirmed For The Batman Part II

Filming for The Batman Part II is set to begin April 2026. Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell are returning to their roles. Farrell seems doubtful about a second season of The Penguin. He said to Deadline, “I’ve heard some talk about it, but I don’t know if that’s a good idea. Part of me thinks we should just leave it as we got away with something special.”

Conclusion

For Farrell, being part of Matt Reeves’ Batman world is more than just another gig—it’s a dream come true from his childhood, and he’s surrounded by collaborators who are as passionate as he is about telling grounded, character-driven stories in the dark, complex reality of Gotham. The criminal underworld of Gotham City is once again ready to entertain their fans but Colin Farrell’s Penguin has made a permanent impact on the Batman mythos and his passion for this universe and the team behind it will keep him coming back for as long as they’ll have him.

Maxton Hall Season 2

The nerves, the devastation, and the magnetic chemistry of Maxton Hall, The World Between Us is officially back to steal your heart all over again. With three episodes now out, the highly anticipated Episode 4, “Secrets,” is scheduled to release on 14 November, 2025, on Prime Video.

Adapted from Mona Kasten’s “Save Me” trilogy, German hit drama continues to follow Ruby Bell, a determined scholarship student at the prestigious Maxton Hall and James Beaufort, the affluent heir burdened by his family’s demands. Their lives conflict in all manner of ways. Yet fate and unforeseen perils keep bringing them together.

Prime Video will be releasing Episode 4 this Friday. It is following the show’s pattern on a weekly basis. New episodes are released every Friday until November 28. That’s the end of Season 2. The first three episodes are available to stream already worldwide, so if you’re not up to date yet, now’s the time.

What Happened So Far

Season 2 began with an emotional reset. Following the events of season one, Ruby is starting over working toward an Oxford dream, grappling with new academic challenges, and trying to offer up a little personal growth. James, by contrast, is at last dealing with his demons.

What Happened So Far

His therapy sessions have stripped away the guilt and grief caused by his family’s tragedy.

Meanwhile, Lydia’s surprise pregnancy has added a whole new dimension to the drama and Ophelia’s secret link to the Beauforts is emerging. Ember, Ruby’s sister, seems to be getting more focus. This could mean her storyline may get bigger this season.

What to Expect in Episode 4

Episode 4, appropriately named “Secrets,” is set to evoke some feelings and maybe even fan the flames of a once-again rumored romance. After their emotional exchanges in Episode 3, Ruby and James could be beginning to really move forward again. However, that’s far easier said than done in Maxton Hall, we know.

The next episode will also investigate further into Cordelia Beaufort’s will, a storyline that is expected to reveal some secrets pertaining to the Beaufort family wealth. Fans should brace for more Lydia/Professor Sutton drama, since the pregnant woman can’t decide whether or tell her pregnancy.

Another open question is the simmering animosity between Alistair and Kesh that has been bubbling since Season 1. Fans have been dying for closure on their arc and episode 4 just might give us some answers as to where their friendship or perhaps something more is headed.

Why Fans Are Loving Season 2

If Season 1 was about discovery and heartbreak, Season 2 is about vindication. The writing is quicker, the emotions stronger and the chemistry between Harriet Herbig-Matten (Ruby) and Damian Hardung (James) is still electric. Directors Martin Schreier and Tarek Roehlinger add a cinematic flair to the narrative, infusing the lavish with the heartfelt.

And the new season delves into even bigger issues ambition, privilege and emotional restoration all set against the drama-ridden halls of Maxton Hall’s upper echelons.”

Conclusion

Maxton Hall continues to demonstrate that teen drama can be both genuinely moving and intelligent. Featuring a blend of romance, tension, and moral ambiguity, it’s no wonder this series has turned out to be one of Prime Video’s top European originals.

The fourth episode is shaping up to be a turning point, one with the potential to alter Ruby and James’s relationship forever. If love conquers guilt or secrets tear them apart, this is going to be a wild ride for the fans.

So, get the popcorn, sign into Prime Video, and prepare for another week at the scandalous Maxton Hall. Installment 4 releases 14 November 2025 and you won’t want to miss a second.

At FandomFans, we bring you the latest buzz from Hollywood’s creative underworld exploring how visionary directors, designers, and actors craft the worlds we love to escape into. Today, we dive deep into the drama and anticipation surrounding the next episode of Maxton Hall Season 2, keeping fans connected to every twist and turn.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Explained – How Marvel Reset Peter Parker’s Life

Spider-Man: Brand New Day explained with comic history, One More Day fallout, Peter Parker's reset, and how Marvel reshaped the character's future.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

The beginning of Spider-Man’s “Brand New Day,” starting at the top of The Amazing Spider-Man #546 in January 2008, was a clean slate for the character. Following “One More Day,” this era re-envisioned Peter Parker’s life by moving him from his married adulthood back to his origins as a single man and an aspirant. This contentious choice was taken in order to make the character more relatable and timeless for future generations.

Though they were out to make the character viable for at least the next few decades, how they went about doing so provides a textbook example of both imaginative thinking and the dangers of heavy-handed editorial mandates.

The Devil in the Details: The OMD Foundation

To get “Brand New Day,” you have to start with the ruins of “One More Day” (OMD). To fix Peter’s public unmasking during Civil War, Marvel had Peter literally make a “deal with the devil.” To save Aunt May’s life, the demon Mephisto wiped out Peter’s marriage to Mary Jane Watson from history.

This “Devil’s Bargain” erased two decades of continuity. For his part, Editor in Chief Joe Quesada has said that an older married Peter is too “aged” and in that sense less relatable. But it’s a forced regression — and it’s unearned, too. It was like a supernatural “undo” key, rather than traditional character development, and many fans felt it discounted their long-term investment in the series.

Innovation Through the “Brain Trust”

The most interesting thing about BND was not just the story, but the logistics. Marvel dropped several Spider-Man books to concentrate on one flagship title, The Amazing Spider-Man, three times monthly.

Brain Trust

This necessitated a “brain trust” of rotating writers (such as Dan Slott, Mark Waid and Zeb Wells) and artists. This method enabled the book to mimic the speed of serialized television. They could sow “slow-burn” seeds — such as the mystery of the ‘Spider-Tracer Killer’ that would pay off months or even years down the road.

A New (But Old) Supporting Cast

BND, however, also devoted a lot more attention to Peter’s life without the mask. Moving him back in with Aunt May and making him a freelance photographer once again Marvel played up “humanizing” the hero through urban hardship.

Return of Harry Osborn: Resurrecting Harry reintroduced a social mooring and a “best friend” dynamic that had been missing for years.

New Rogues: The era was prolific in new villains. Mister Negative was the breakout, presenting a stark visual “negative” of the Peter/Spidey duality.

New Faces: New characters Carlie Cooper (a CSI forensics expert) and Vin Gonzales (Peter’s Spider-Man-hating roommate) were also added to capture a contemporary, pan-op/NYC feel.

Transmedia Legacy and the MCU

Controversial as it always was, BND’s DNA is stamped on everything today. The 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man game took a lot of cues from this period, including Mister Negative and the F.E.A.S.T. shelter.

More importantly, the BND model is what the MCU is now following. Tom Holland’s Peter is, by the end of No Way Home, living in a small apartment, unknown to the world and devoid of his Stark tech. The 2026 film, apparently titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, heralds a “fresh start” much like the 2008 relaunch – though presumably with a more heroic justification than a deal with Mephisto.

Conclusion

“Brand New Day,” was a radical rewrite designed to update the character by returning to his roots. Though it led to some of the best single stories in the character’s history, it also demonstrated that “narrative debt” is real. You can reset a character’s clock, but you can’t always reset the reader’s memory.
